It seems that most managers don’t know how to ask for more for his team, especially actuaries. They are always asked to produce the required numbers, and they are always asked to do every analysis. Some are used to be obedient to each request. They don’t know how to say no to decline the extra work. They don’t know how to acquire more resources for themselves. So the actuarial staff have more and more work to do but less and less benefits. That’s what I’ve felt recently in my office. If a manager only knows how to make his staff overloaded with a lot of work, then it may not be a good idea to work with him any longer. So, my dear boss, show me your guts!
